Sister City Relationship Background
City of Padang investment board and integrated services division (BPMPTSP) has been pursuing investment opportunities and promoting the tourism campaign to Australia.
The investment focus is underpinned by the Friendship City relationship between City of Padang and City of Fremantle since 1996. As alternative to a formal Sister City relationship, the friendship agreement have established adequate greeting and sharing activities between the two cities
Recent improvements (2015-2016) in investment and licensing urge the intention to elevate the friendship relationship into a formal Sister City relationship and to increase trading volumes for both cities.
AIA has been supporting the initial framing of Padang-Fremantle Sister City relationship to ensure greater benefits for City of Padang and Indonesia since October 2016.
The outcomes of the government visit in November 2016 which was held at Fremantle Town Hall Center (Council Chambers) highlight some of the key discussions to elevate the 20 years relationship to more formal one, focusing on the cattle trading, fishery trading and investment, education exchanges, and port tourism including direct port-to-port relationship.
Both AIA and the Consulate General Perth office are invited to advise the Sister City relationship framing.
